Youth Performing Arts

The Cool Kid Player's (C.K.P.) Youth Performing Arts Program  is a sign up program offering ages 6 to 18 the opportunity to perform in full scale theater productions here at the Selma Arts Center. CKP produces around three shows a year, ages vary depending on the “casting call" for each performance. No experience is needed and all are included with registration. Our program also offers Performing Arts and Visual Arts classes, such as Acting, Vocal, Make-up, Art and Scenic Design.

The City of Selma Recreation Department has provided the youth of the community the opportunity to experience the performing arts since the early 2000’s.  CKP productions and classes are open to all, and provide a variety of Arts and skill level. It is the City of Selma's goal to provide youth a safe environment and affordable education of the arts.

"If you can just believe its beautifully bizarre"
Presented by The Cool Kid Players : Selma's Youth Performing Arts

Tally' ho and away we go!

Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach Jr. is presented by Cool Kid Players and is part of the 2026 Season Membership package.

Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most poignantly quirky stories, Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach JR. is a brand new take on this "masterpeach" of a tale.  Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is destined to be a classic.

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.
