AUDITION

4/15/20. Over the course of the last few weeks, SAC leadership has been keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding COVID-19. In order to keep our patrons, production teams, artists, staff and volunteers safe, and in keeping with both state and local shelter-in-place regulations, we have made the decision to put a hold on all of our mainstage productions until advisable to reopen. We will continue to assess the situation and will rely on the advice of state and local officials to help determine when we can safely open our doors again.

As of now auditions for future performances have been placed on hold. Please stay tuned for an update should anything change.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions or would like to know about changing or canceling a reservation, please contact us at 559-891-2238.

Selma Originals: Playwright Submissions & Directing Opportunity | August 1st - August 31st

Audition Date: Finalist chosen September 3rd

Submit your original work for a chance to be performed.

The San Joaquin Valley is home to so many talented artists who are constantly yearning to put their work out in the world. Here at the Selma Arts Center we want to give our local playwrights a place to showcase their abilities as storytellers and give artists original work to produce.

Writers: This year we invite writers of the community to submit original short plays for an opportunity to be produced and performed in our Selma Originals one-night online Showcase. Submissions will be evaluated by our Selma Originals committee and a group of plays will be selected to be performed online. Play readings will be streamed to ticket holders only.  Please read the packet for criteria and guidelines.

Playwright Submission and Form Due August 31st.

Directors:  Selma Originals is looking for Directors and Actors to bring these pieces of art to life.  Interested directors will go through a small interview process before selections are made. A playwright has the opportunity to direct their own play but must go through the director interview process.

Directors Submission Form due August 31st

Online Performing: Each original play will be performed via streaming service and/ or pre-recorded to stream for an audience. Only ticket-holding members will be allowed to access the content.
