We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with musician Aaron Wall. As the frontman for the remarkable band 40 Watt Hype, Wall is no stranger to various styles and forms of music. Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer for artists and major motion pictures, Wall was up for the challenge of producing composer Michael Freidman’s score without even having an example to listen to first! “Producing these tracks has been an adventure in itself,” says Wall. “Discovering sounds and moods to serve the music was especially unique since we didn’t have reference material. It was a challenge that stretched me in different ways and took me to some interesting places.”
Director Juan L. Guzman was thrilled to bring the artist onboard for this production. “MR. BURNS includes a musical score with some very interesting compositions. I know Aaron as an innovative musician and an extremely creative person, so I knew he was the right guy for this project.” Wall tells us that “the music has an organic and dark quality. The musical colors and textures are sparse and simple yet the arrangements are complex and really put the performers in the driver’s seat.” Both Guzman and Wall agree that there’s something incredible about working with a show as unique as this one. Says Wall, “The most enjoyable thing has been unlocking the music and being part of something new that hasn’t been done before. I’ve never been involved with a project as unique and different as this one, so I’m just as curious as everyone else to experience it live.”
40 Watt Hype has toured all over the United States, from Miami to LA, and have performed with major artists including The Roots, Ludacris, and Ozomatli. They have been featured for international audiences, in both major motion pictures and television networks including FOX and ABC, and most recently on the Netflix show “Narcos.” Their album “Push” is available here or on iTunes.
